  1. Whoo! Devils and Realist manga by Seven Seas Entertainment. Yep, looking back at the comments from the giveaway it seems people are quite enjoying the manga series.

    • It’s true! I think it was the most frequently mentioned title. I know that I’m enjoying the series, so far. ^_^

  2. How fascinating that no one cited that Monster Girlfriend series (I can’t even remember the title today, but didn’t see it above) as a favorite!

Every time I see the covers posted on their twitter/tumblr, I cringe, tbh. I’m not looking forward to Citrus either. I mean, I was, but then I looked up the first volume and the drawings suggest that the content is too guys’ club for me. :(

It’s weird, because I’ve always liked Seven Seas, but the latest stuff has been Not For Me. Maybe my tastes are changing/evolving? (I mean, Gunslinger Girl and Girl Friends are still tops, but.)

    • I thought it was interesting that no one mentioned Monster Musume, too! The series has done phenomenally well for Seven Seas. Out of the publisher’s recent licenses, many of which I’m not particularly interested in, I’m most curious about The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto. I’ve recently started to get into Yen Press’ Alice in the Country of Hearts, so it’s only a matter of time before I try some of Seven Seas’ Alice books. And apparently I really ought to read Gunslinger Girl! I haven’t read any of that series yet, but quite a few people mentioned it. :)

      • I suspect that I would have loved a LOT more of these titles when I was a teenager, or even into university. But at this point, and with my shrunken tolerance for certain obnoxious things, just the covers are enough for me to think Not For Me. :P

Gunslinger Girl is interesting because it starts out a little bit moe – I started with the anime myself, and was expecting more of that – but then it gets a lot more political and philosophical, and the last few volumes aren’t cutesy at all, and it’s all war and politics. (It got kind of confusing to follow towards the end, too.) But I thought it was a really rich story and, perhaps, a little more grown-up than other stuff (it was in a seinen mag, afaik, so there’s that!)

I have been meaning to try the Railgun series, but I could never decide if I wanted to try it or Index first, and at this point I’m waiting for one to show up at my used bookstore to get a taste first. Likewise, the Alice series!
