Manga Giveaway: Oresama Teacher Giveaway

The end of October is quickly approaching which means it’s time for another monthly giveaway at Experiments in Manga! For this month’s giveaway, everyone participating will have the chance to win Oresama Teacher, Volume 1 by Izumi Tsubaki as published in English by Viz Media. Oresama Teacher isn’t the newest series, but it is one that I recently started reading and quickly fell in love with. Since these giveaways are in part meant to help me spread my love of manga, it made since to me to include Oresama Teacher in the fun, too. Oh, and as usual, the giveaway is open worldwide!

Oresama Teacher, Volume 1

I’m not sure exactly why it is, but I really enjoy manga about delinquents. There’s just something about ruffians with hearts of gold that warms my own heart. Granted, not all delinquents in manga are so benevolent, and some series can be quite brutal, but I tend to enjoy those as well. Whether a manga takes a more comedic or more dramatic approach the the pervasive delinquent character type there’s usually some sort of well-deserved ass-kicking involved which, in general, is something that I can appreciate. All that being said, I’m a little uncertain why it took me so long to give Oresama Teacher a try considering the prominence of delinquents and ex-delinquents in the story, but now that I have I am completely hooked. And I am completely okay with that.

So, you may be wondering, how can you win a copy of Oresama Teacher, Volume 1?

1) In the comments below, tell me a little about your favorite manga delinquent. (If you don’t have a favorite, or haven’t encountered any, simply mention that instead.)
2) If you’re on Twitter, you can earn a bonus entry by tweeting, or retweeting, about the contest. Make sure to include a link to this post and @PhoenixTerran (that’s me).

It’s as easy as that. Giveaway participants can earn up to two entries and have one week to submit comments. If needed or preferred, comments can also be sent to phoenixterran(at)gmail(dot)com which I will then post here in your name. The giveaway winner will be randomly selected and announced on November 1, 2017. Best of luck to you all!

VERY IMPORTANT: Include some way that I can contact you. This can be an e-mail address in the comment form, a link to your website, Twitter username, or whatever. If I can’t figure out how to get a hold of you and you win, I’ll just draw another name.

  1. 1) Clearly the delinquents of Cromartie High School. Doing things like sitting around, discussing if that dude is really a robot or not (he is), if the gorillas that attend the school are actual students, and only finding it slightly weird that a mute Freddie Mercury look-a-like attends their school. And completely not noticing when one of their friends (who has a phobia and severe motion sickness from all forms of transportation, but is too badass to let it show) is replaced by a stranger who looks and acts nothing like him (and noticing even less when the original comes back and they’re both there). Best manga about delinquents, clearly.

I, too, love delinquents/ruffians! Now, if they combined that story with teachers who are aliens….

  3. 1) can’t remember if Yanki-kun & Megane-chan is in English… oh well, everyone in GTO!! even the teacher counts as a delinquent in some way =P

  4. Joseph Miller says

Favorite delinquent… hmmm… Shoya Ishida from Silent Voice. He has such a great character/story arc.

  5. Black (Kuro) from tekkonkinkreet Kuro is a violent and streetwise punk, considering Takaramachi to be “his town”. Shiro is younger and appears to be mentally impaired, out of touch with the world around him and often living in a world of illusions. They call themselves “the Cats”. Despite their extreme differences, they complement and support each other, similar to the Chinese Taoist principle of yin and yang.

  6. I have read numerous manga with delinquents. My favourite delinquent is Tatsumi Oga from Beelzebub. This manga has so many delinquents and the story is so good. Oga was a alright character at the beginning but he gets a lot of development through out the story. At the beginning he wanted nothing to do with Baby Beel but later on he grows to care for him in someway.v The comedy is also a strong point for this manga. I wish the anime was longer.

My favorite would probably be Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho.
