I was fairly successful this month in limiting my purchases, especially considering that last month I went a little overboard. Again. Even while limiting myself, I managed to find some pretty great stuff. In April I was happy to pick up a complete set of the now out of print Welcome to the N.H.K. manga adaptation. I loved the original novel and I liked Oiwa’s work on the Goth manga adaptation, so I’m looking forward to reading the N.H.K. manga, too. I also picked up a couple of other out of print goodies, Sanpei Shirato’s The Legend of Kamui and Kan Furuyama and Jiro Taniguchi’s Samurai Legend (which I learned about during the Jiro Taniguchi Manga Moveable Feast). There were two books that I was particularly excited to receive in April. The first was Matthew Meyer’s The Night Parade of One Hundred Demons which was able to be published thanks to a Kickstarter project. The other was the second volume of the English edition of the Japanese literary journal Monkey Business. Expect reviews for both of these in the near future!
