July wasn’t particularly exciting for me as far as manga acqusitions go. Don’t get me wrong, I was very happy to see my preorders for Chi’s Sweet Home, Ōoku, and Gin Tama (unfortunately the last volume to be released by Viz) come in and I was glad I finally picked up Eriko Tadano’s Works. But there were no outstanding finds of out of print materials this time around. I did manage to snag a big box of random first and second volumes off of ebay for less than a dollar each (including shipping!), but it turned out mostly to be manga I don’t particularly care about. There was some good stuff in there too, though. The things I was most excited about in July aren’t even manga. The second chapter of Teahouse was released, hooray! And I finally caved and imported the House of Five Leaves anime soundtrack. What I really want is a Region 1 DVD release of the series, but the soundtrack is good, too.
