Manga Giveaway: Joy of Josei Winner

And the winner of the Joy of Josei manga giveaway is…!

As the winner, will be receiving a brand new copy of Yumi Unita’s Bunny Drop, Volume 1 as published by Yen Press. There was a great turnout for the contest this month, which made me very happy. A huge thank you to everyone who entered! For the giveaway, I had people name their favorite josei manga if they had one, however they decided to define the term (please see the comments for individual responses.) Josei is more of a demographic rather than a genre and depending on how technical you want to get with the definition, you’ll end up with different lists.

And speaking of lists, here’s what we all came up with for favorite and recommended josei and josei-esque manga licensed in English. Please enjoy!

  1. A Bride’s Story is Josei? I thought it ran in a Seinen magazine. I have volume one of it and I loved it. I absolute can’t wait for volume 2 in November.

  2. A Bride’s Story is one of the josei-esque titles included. You are absolutely correct, it did run in a seinen magazine. So technically speaking, A Bride’s Story is not really josei. I didn’t want to get too caught up in definitions for this giveaway though since there can be so much crossover.

  3. Oh, I see what you mean. Well, I didn’t win the contest, but I found a new blog out of the deal. Thanks for all the recommendations. I actually bought my mom With The Light a while ago. Not sure if she read it. Maybe I will ask her if I can borrow it.

  4. Thank you for entering, and I hope you visit again! I’m glad you found the recommendations useful. There’s some manga that made it onto the list that I wasn’t previously aware myself. I look forward to trying them out. ^_^
