Manga Giveaway: Princess Jellyfish Giveaway

The end of March is drawing near, which means it’s time for another manga giveaway here at Experiments in Manga! Thanks to the fine folks at Kodansha Comics who provided the manga for this month’s giveaway, you all have a chance to win the first omnibus of Akiko Higashimura’s manga series Princess Jellyfish. And, as always, the giveaway is open worldwide!

Princess Jellyfish, Omnibus 1

As a fan of manga, I’m constantly looking out for new releases and license announcements. While I will happily read older titles, and find great joy in tracking down out-of-print gems, I eagerly await news of what’s to come in the future. Akiko Higashimura’s Princess Jellyfish, which hit the shelves just last week, was one of my most highly anticipated releases for 2016. I watched and loved the anime series, but it only adapted a small portion of the manga, so I was left wanting more. For years, fans wished for the original Princess Jellyfish to be licensed in English. Sadly, josei hasn’t always done particularly well in North America, so for a very long time it looked as though a license would never materialize. I was absolutely thrilled when Kodansha Comics announced that the Princess Jellyfish manga would finally be getting an English-language release, and I preordered it as soon as I was able to.

So, you may be wondering, how can you win Princess Jellyfish, Omnibus 1?

1) In the comments below, tell me a little about a upcoming manga release that you’re excited about. (If you don’t have anything in particular in mind, or don’t know what’s coming out, simply mention that.)
2) If you’re on Twitter, you can earn a bonus entry by tweeting, or retweeting, about the contest. Make sure to include a link to this post and @PhoenixTerran (that’s me).

There you go! For this giveaway, each person participating can earn up to two entries and has one week to submit comments. If preferred, or if you have trouble using the comment form, entries can also be emailed to me directly at phoenixterran(at)gmail(dot)com. I will then post the comments here in your name. The giveaway winner will be randomly selected and announced on April 6, 2015. Best of luck!

VERY IMPORTANT: Include some way that I can contact you. This can be an e-mail address in the comment form, a link to your website, Twitter username, or whatever. If I can’t figure out how to get a hold of you and you win, I’ll just draw another name.

  1. Queen Emeraldas! I’m so excited it’s finally getting an English release!!

RTing your tweet from @bunnycartoon ;)

  2. I already pre-orderd the first three volumes of Princess Jellyfish so don’t include my name in the drawing but Manga title I’m most excited about is The Osamu Tezuka Story: A Life in Manga and Anime

  3. I’ m really excited for haikyuu!! And Akatsuki no yona , such great series :D
Ah and thank you for the giveaway :)
    @nanapo_94

  4. I tend to keep a large list of these things, both one for stuff I’m currently collecting (and their release dates, etc, and I copy and edit it down to print out for cons, very handy), and one for things that aren’t yet out. On the second list, Udon’s Rose of Versailles easily tops my list of excitement! But Yona of the Dawn is a close second. And third on that list is Otherworld Barbara, I always want more 49ers! I’m more wary of RoV though, because Udon hasn’t put out manga in ages (mostly just art books and Street Fighter manga), so I’m concerned if they’ll do it and finish it, at least with Yona, I know Viz will keep publishing it as long as it’s reasonably popular (which it seems it will be, if the anime being well received is any indication, but I’m excited for it being from the same author as NG Life). The worst Fantagraphics will do with OB is delay it a bunch, but I’m confident that that one will come out. Eventually. But I really do want to see Udon get their manga act together and put out all of RoV (and not stop partway like they’ve done with so many titles before)

Hmm,i don’t really have anything right now…Maybe Hidoku Shinaide (aka “Don’t be Cruel) by Nekota Yonezou from SuBLime. Even though it’s not my favourite series by her, i am still glad we are finally getting more of Nekota manga in English.
And i will be checking out A Distant Neighborhood by Jiro Taniguchi for sure.

    RTed your tweet @busha69

  6. I’m looking forward to the Nichijou volumes released by Vertical. I can’t wait for them to come out so I can buy a whole bunch of them!

  7. Joseph Miller says

The manga releases I’m most looking forward to are the final two volumes of A Silent Voice.

  8. Ash Nguyen says

Aw… I don’t know any new manga releases. D: I have not gotten the chance to explore and no one had said anything about their excitedness of a new manga

    • Joseph Miller says

Good point, I’ll join the others below in saying that Yona of the Dawn is one I’m looking forward to as a librarian because I loved the anime and it’ll fit well with my college collection.

  9. I’m collecting tsubasa reservoir chronicles omnibus, so I’m looking forward to the release of the last ones. The excitement of finally owning another complete series of CLAMP.
I also loved the anime of Princess Jellyfish, so I’m glad to know it’s released and in omnibus ☺

  10. I’m really looking forward to the Sherlock manga. The show is one of my favorites and until recently didn’t know it had a manga adaptation!

  11. I’m pretty excited about a lot of the new title Kodansha just announced, I don’t recall their English titles off the top of my head but “fruits basket with a wolf boy” and “in/spectre” are ones that I’ve read some scans for and thought were great, I was worried that in/specter would be a hard one to get licensed and now it’s been licensed less than 10 chapters in!
And as per usual I reblogged @wanderindreamr

  12. I’m not a big fan of zombie stories, but I’m most interested in the “I am a Hero” omnibus by Kengo Hanzawa that’s due out next month. Mostly because I like manga that utilize aspects of the manga industry itself in part of the story, and the protagonist is a mangaka himself.

  13. Super excited to start collecting Queen Esmeraldas by Leiji Matsumoto this summer! Although, Princess Jellyfish has also been on my list of anticipated titles for this year. Can’t wait to finally read it! RTed @lorzy_porzy

  14. Gave it a retweet and as for what manga, Ballroom e Youkoso is a great title, wonder if it’ll sell in the states though

  15. Yona of the Dawn, no question

  16. I have been really excited to pick up Blame! for some time now, but as is the nightmare of collectors it was horrendously out of print. Luckily Dark Horse is reprinting in the ultimate edition format this winter. Hype is real for that. :)

    retweeting from @robforpne

  17. Akatsuki of the Yona (Yona of the Dawn) hands down! So excited for it to be localized this year <3 I love all the characters, and Yona's character development throughout the series is absolutely amazing.

    Also retweeted as @otometimes

    Thanks for the giveaway ^_^

  18. I’m excited for the next chapter of F/sn Heaven’s Feel, despite knowing already the story XD It’s just too great

  19. I have nothing in mind, i’m actually looking for something interesting… Maybe this manga? So thank you for this giveaway. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
